DTN COMMENTS: We are picking up a few scattered bids this morning, and we
expect packer inquiry will continue to improve as the day progresses. Having
said that, it is possible that significant trade volume will be delayed
until Thursday or later. Asking prices are around 113.00-114.00 in the
South, and 178.00 plus in the North. A very light trade developed in parts
of the North yesterday with live deals marked at 110.50, a few dressed deals
in Iowa were reported at 173.00-175.00, but this trade was certainly not
enough to establish any kind of an accurate trend. Beef cutouts are expected
to be lower with light to moderate box movement.

The preliminary report from the Fed Cattle Exchange Auction today listed a
total of 424 head, all for Kansas, with 0 actually sold, 424 head listed as
unsold, and 0 head listed as PO (Passed Offer).
